Japan’s two-wheeler producer Yamaha Motor has decided to double its production capacity to 8 lakh units in two years.In order to expand its business footprints in India, Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer.
Yamaha is eyeing to sell more than half a million bikes in 100 to 125 cc segments in 2009.
The company is striving to add 80 more new dealers this year under its brand to compete with its strong competitors.Yahma is aiming to sell more than two lakh units this year, as compared to 1.20 lakh units last year.

Yamaha Motor India is now India Yamaha Motor



Yamaha Motorcycles started manufacturing of motorcycles in India by establishing a joint venture company with local partner Escorts in 1996. In 2001, Yamaha Motors India became a 100% owned subsidiary of YMC. Then in 2005, a separate sales company, Yamaha Motor India Sales Private Limited, was established, after which the Yamaha motorcycle business in India was conducted by two companies specializing in manufacturing and marketing respectively.

Yamaha R1 will soon be on Indian roads..



Yamaha launched the YZF-R1 after redesigning the Genesis engine to offset the crankshaft, gearbox input and output shafts and this "compacting" of the engine yielded a huge dividend in that the total engine length was now very short. This allowed the wheelbase to be shortened significantly which resulted in much quicker handling and an optimized center of gravity.

Success story of Yamaha Motor India



Japanese two-wheeler major Yamaha’s plans to transfer its Indian sales business to a new entity — India Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd — have hit a speedbreaker with the Industry Ministry against allowing the company to import products. Yamaha Motor aims at getting the 10% share of market which is now only 3%.
With a slew of launches in different segments, Yamaha is aiming to dent the scooter market which has remained positive despite the slump in two wheeler sales. While motorcycle sales, which forms 85% of the market, has fallen by 15%, scooters sales grew by 20% to 5.30 lakh units in the first half of this fiscal.

Rebirth of Yamaha Motor India


India Yamaha Motor has witnessed an impressive growth of 45.3 per cent in sales during March 2009 as compared to the corresponding period last year. It sold 14558 units in March 2009 as against 10022 units sold in March last year.
A careful analysis shows that Yamaha is growing at the fastest pace amongst all players and the company attributes this success to the delightful experience that the customers have had with Yamaha’s products. Despite the recent slowdown affecting the consumer’s purchasing power, Yamaha has registered an impressive growth with FZ-16, YZF-R15 and the recently introduced FZ-S catching the imagination of biking enthusiast.
